Car Show History

On September 19, 2004, Venice Florida Corvettes held its first car show at Bill Buck Chevrolet on Rt. 41 (Tamiami Trail) here in Venice, Florida.  It was called “Corvettes on the Gulf”.  Given the success of the show, in 2005 our second show was moved to Centennial Park, in downtown Venice, where it has been held ever since. The name of the show was changed to “Corvettes in Venice-- A Vette-Together".  After the September 2008 show, it was decided to move the show date to allow our seasonal Corvette enthusiasts to enjoy the show – the temperatures here in Southwest Florida are also a bit more pleasing. There was no show in 2009 as we geared up for the March 2010 show which would now be called “Corvettes in Venice (on) the Isle”. In 2014, the show name went back to “Corvettes in Venice – A Vette -Together”.  In 2017, the show became known as “Venice Florida Vette Together” which it remains known as today.

Participants are provided a show shirt with their registration fee and on the back of the shirt is a picture of a Corvette with a unique background. The car and background change every year. The car that appears on the shirt belongs to a past club President who works with a designer to create the image that appears on the shirt. So, every President can look forward to having their car on the car show shirt held two years after they leave office. While this has been and continues to be our practice, we are pleased to say that in 2008, a decision was made by the Board to honor a 79-year-old member who was active in the club and who had passed away.  Bob Anderson whose car would have been on the shirt agreed to step aside and the Club put Jean Dunick’s 2004 car on the shirt in memory of Jean, a real lady.

Many who attend our show consider it to be one of the best Corvette shows there is. We have participants that come from not only across the State of Florida, but Arkansas, North and South Carolina, Georgia and Louisiana as well. Perhaps it’s a chance to win one of our unique trophies. Venice in known as the “Shark Tooth Capital of the World”.  Because of all the shark teeth you can find along our beaches, our distinctive trophies incorporate a replica of a shark’s tooth into its design.

While our 2020 and 2021 Car Shows were cancelled because of COVID-19, we were back in 2022 with a terrific Show.  We added a display that showcased all eight (8) generations of Corvettes and had Show entries from near and far. The 2023 show went off with out a hitch and so did the 2024 show. We are already working on plans for our 2025 Vette Together which will be on March 16, 2025 in beautiful downtown Venice, Florida.

The slideshow shown below are pictures of each of the car show shirts through the years, the date of the show, the year of the Corvette and its owner. We look forward to seeing everyone at one of our shows!
